Jennie Helmer


Research Lead and a Paramedic Practice Leader at BCEHS

Jennie has over 28 years of experience working in emergency medical services in British Columbia. She began her career in Vancouver Coastal Regions as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP)/Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP).

Since then, Jennie has held progressive positions including Unit Chief, Paramedic Specialist, Research Lead, and Paramedic Practice Leader. Jennie received her Master’s in Education from the University of British Columbia in 2018.

Jennie is also a Sessional Instructor with the Justice Institute of BC (JIBC) Department of Paramedicine, and is a journal reviewer with the Australasian Journal of Paramedicine and the Dalhousie Evidence Based Practice. With areas of interesting in paramedic models of care, evidence-based practice and public health research in EMS, Jennie has over 15 peer reviewed academic publications.
