Dr. Jasneet Parmar is a Care of the Elderly physician and has worked for the Specialized Geriatrics Program, since 1992. She is a Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta. She is the Medical Lead of Home Living and Transitions, AHS Edmonton Zone. Jasneet has been very active in developing and implementing clinical programs for the care of the elderly. Her research currently is focused on supporting family caregivers by the healthcare system.

The Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Alberta Family Caregivers: How can Healthcare Providers Support Family Caregivers?

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored that family caregivers need support throughout their diverse care trajectories. We will review the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic as of July 2020 and report on family caregivers’ situation in July 2021, and finally introduce COVID-19 Caregiver-Centered Care education for health care providers to learn about person-centered care for family caregivers as we move through and beyond the pandemic.
