Serena lives in Nova Scotia, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.
She has had the professional privilege of working in the fields of hospice & palliative care, mental health, corrections, education as well as consulting with various stakeholder groups. She is an advocate for grief & death literacy presenting nationally and internationally. She is passionate about community practice, and all the ways we engage with a sense of work & family community.
In 2021 she was a recipient of the Canadian Association of Social Workers Distinguished Service Award for her leadership and support in Canada’s largest mass shooting occurring in the rural community she resides.
