Abstract/Description

Many palliative patients and their families wish to donate tissues for transplantation to help those in need of life-saving or life-enhancing transplants. The Comprehensive Tissue Centre works with palliative units and the pediatric palliative team, offering the opportunity for donation as part of end-of-life care. These palliative programs have been highly successful collaborations in terms of increasing donation rates and the supply of transplantable heart valves and corneas for patients awaiting transplants

Objectives

Describe the process of tissue donation as part of end-of-life care

Describe the collaborative work of CTC as part of a palliative team
